Work Parties - organised for Project Hereward by IWA Peterborough branch
As part of our efforts to reinstate Welches Dam Lock the branch have been
granted permission by the Middle Level Commissioners to clear the North Bank of
Horseways channel near Chatteris.
The first very successful work party took place on 6th January 2016 with 11 members participating.
The new season of IWA Peterborough Branch work parties will commence on Wednesday 18th October 2017. Tasks to include clearing vegetation on Horseways Channel and carrying out maintenance of Horseways Lock. A complete list of work party dates for 2017/18 is detailed below. All will take place on Wednesdays and Saturdays:November 2017- Wednesday’s 1st, 15th & 29th and Saturday 25th
December 2017 – Wednesday 13th
January 2018 – Wednesday’s 3rd & 17th and Saturday 27th
February 2018 – Wednesday’s 14th & 28th and Saturday 24th
March 2018 - Wednesday’s 14th & 28th and Saturday 24th
We start at 10:00am and hope to finish around 3:00pm. Personal protective clothing and tools are provided but it is advisable to wear sturdy footwear and warm clothing in the colder months.
Hot drinks are provided in the branch gazebo. As there are no facilities nearby you are advised to bring a packed lunch. Access is via, and by permission of, Allpress Farms, Byall Fen Drove (B1093), PE16 6XQ.
